على طريق الله - الحلقة 13 - النجاة - مصطفى حسني

Mustfah Hosny is always on point when I need to hear a lecture

على طريق الله - الحلقة 13 - النجاة - مصطفى حسني

Theres a lot in this lecture here are my favorite parts:

Introduction:
When we are on طريق الله the road of Allah, problems occur and Allah provided us with the knowledge on how to deal with these problems

We have a saying that the kareem (generous person) will never be in regret. This means that the person who has the kareem (generous) manners, Allah will not let that person be lost in the dunya.

When the Prophet came back after he received the first revelation from Angel Jibrel, Khadjah told him Allah will never wrong you because you help people, you are kareem , and you help the one who is in need.

People with good manners, Allah will never leave them. The Prophet taught us the manners of dealing with problems.

10minutes:http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=drk_b4U1NbI#t=583s
(This part sounds so much more beautiful in Arabic!)

The scholars said there are two levels of the obedient Muslims,
both are of ahul Jannah and the salheen:
There is "Ashaab Al Yamyn "People of the Right" and "Alsabokun" Those Who Race to Good"

There are those who  who worship Allah seeking ajr (good deeds) and Jannah and then there are those who worship Allah seeking His ridaa (like accepting) and to Please Him . Both of these people are salheen good people, none of them are bad. One is "Ashaab Al Yamyn" Those of the Right and the other is "Alsabkeen" Those Running to Good Deeds. One is worshipping Allah as a trade, so Allah can make their matters better, so Allah can give them hassant, to go to Jannnah, these are the "Ashaab Al Yamyn", but there are other people that worship Allah and do the good but they forget about the concept of good deeds, Jannah, all these people want is for Allah to be pleased with them. For an example, if someone on the street wants money, this person will give them money and think I hope Allah will be pleased with me donating money, I hope Allah will be pleased with me. You give this money for the sake of Allah, to please Him  , not for Jannah or good deeds. If you are not up to this level, don't feel bad you are still of the salaheen (good people).

Look how Allah mentions these people in Surat Al Waqiah
"Ashaab Al Yamyn" and "Alsabkeen"Notice the people of "sabkoun" are of less

56:10

And the forerunners, the forerunners -
56:11
Those are the ones brought near  to Allah
56:12

In the Gardens of Pleasure
56:13

A  large company of the former peoples
56:14

And a few of the later peoples

56:38

For the companions of the right
56:39

A company of the former peoples
56:40

And a company of the later peoples.

الإستعانة بالله - مصطفى حسني :Help of Allah Mustfah Hosny

على طريق الله - الحلقة 12 - الإستعانة بالله - مصطفى حسني

Everytime we meet on this show, we want to learn something because knowledge is light which will bring us light.

Any road you take, you need someone to be there to motivate you.
When you become weak you need someone to cry to,but today we want to talk not about a person, but rather Allah. In this talk we will talk about the "help of Allah" الإستعانة بالله

The insan (person) is weak except when they have help from Allah

"Oh people, you are the poor to Allah, and Allah is the Rich"
Poor means those who need Allah
The scholars said that the insan is always poor and in need and Allah is always Rich and Provides

I found in the Quran, that the very beginning of the Quran Allah began with "help"الإستعانة

And he also ended with "help" الإستعانة

The beginning and end are about "need"الإستعانة and lots of ayahs and stories in the Quran are about the need of Allah, and asking Allah for help, and stories which show us that we need Allahs help.

Allah started with "Al Faitha"

1:5
It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

Allah used the term You because He is telling us that we dont need anyone
for help except from Allah

Then Allah ends with the three surahs which also have the concept of needing Allahs help

Surat Al Ikhlas:

112:2

Allah is He on Whom all depend.

(I dont know how to write what he mentioned about this aya)

Surat Al Falaq:

113:1

Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of dawn

When you say "awud" it means you are seeking Allahs help.

Surat An Nas
114:1
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,

Allah is Rab Al Nas, the One Who owns thier decree life

114:3
The God of mankind

The God of the people, who go to Him during times of need and when they need help.

The Quran began with الإستعانة and it ended with الإستعانة

Allah taught us that if you seek help, seek help from Allah

Allah tells you to seek help from Him because He knows we need the help

In Surat Al Waqiah, Allah shows us the scene of the person who is dying and that those around the dying person cannot do anything to stop the soul from dying,

56:83

Then why, when the soul at death reaches the throat
56:84
And you are at that time looking on -

56:85

And Our angels are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -
56:86
Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,
56:87

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

These ayahs means that no one has control over their life except Allah. No one can bring back the dead soul.

No one can cure themselves even if all of the doctors of the world tried to cure you, only Allah can cure.

None of us can be successful except from Allah "And my success in my task can only come from Allah" Quran

None of us can think except if Allah allows us to think

None of us can forgot our worries except if Allah allows us to forget

Sometimes the insan forgets that Allah is the One who allows everything to happen. Example: my daughter who is 5 wants to drive my car, I will make her pretend she is driving, but really I am the one in control. And to Allah is the ultimate example. The person sometimes thinks they are the one who is in control

Allah always wants to help you, He asks who in the middle of the night will pray to Me so I can give them what they need.

And when Allah talks about Himself to you, he explains to you who He takes care of you: Ayatul Qursi Allah is telling us that we have No One but Him, and that His doors never close, I am always near you if you need me. In this ayah Allah describes Himself as "Al Qiyum". Do you know what Qiyum means? He is there waiting to help you, anything that you need help with Allah knows, and the help is there but you must make duaa to Allah, "Ya Rab". Allah also describes Himself as the "Al Haaa" The One Who is always Alive, because He is always there for you. And that He doesnt leave any parts of the earth, He Owns "Alsamawt wa al ard" the Heavens and the Earths. Allah knows everything. Allah tells us about Himself so when you need his help, you know He is there to help.

Sometimes Allah does not give what you want because He knows more then you and he only gives you what is best for you.

We should relay upon Allahs help all the time, during hardships and times of ease.
That is why the righteous were always making duaa and always asking for Allahs help.

The first example of الإستعانة بالله  is in the story of Prophet Adam when he sinned and he made duaa to Allah. So the very first example of الإستعانة بالله  is help for the self, for one who has made sin. So that everyone who feels weak because of their sin, they can say that I seek help from Allah.

Prophet Nuh seeked help from Allah from the people who were wronging him.

21:76

And  mention  Noah, when he called [to Allah ] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great flood.

Prophet Ibrahim seeked help from Allah for himself because he was the only one who believed in Allah. His own people were throwing him in the fire, and his son kicked him out of his house. He made duaa to Allah.
When you are lonely, there is a Rahaman who is with You.

Prophet Ayoub who seeked help from Allah about  his sickness:

21:83

And  mention  Ayoub  when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the Most Merciful of the merciful."
21:84

So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers  of Allah .

The scholars came up with the following 4 points one should know so they can heart fully seek help from Allah :

1. You must know who you are seeking help from,
Allah the One Who is Qadr on everything.

2. You must take alasba (means efforts) and do your part
The scholars taught us that the body does its part, and the heart is in tawkul

3. Think highly of Allah and dont think He is going to forget you

4. You seeked help from Allah, and you did your part,
leave the rest on Allah, the results.
Everything Allah has brought me is of good

Allah protects you from the things you want because it might not be good to you.

I want Allah to show me the Prophet in my dreams,
be patient inshAllah.

I want Allah to provide me with lots of money, why is that my friend who does haram Allah has given him lots of money...
be patient, maybe Allah gives this person but Allah "Ya Rabik" (like raising).

Whenever you ask someone to help you, dont forget who the real source is: Allah
We are asbab (means) to one another

When was the last time you made duaa to Allah with a full heart that you really needed Allah. If its been a while since you have made duaa to Allah, then we have forgotten that everything from your health to your wealth is in Allahs control.

When the person seeks Allahs help and they know Allah has helped them, this is a beautiful feeling that you are not alone.

Three minutes of  the show a convert speaking in english answers the question: when did I feel that I needed Allahs help (she cries)

You know when the young people study very hard and they make so much duaa during finals and Allah makes them successful even if they dont normally pray or make duaa this is beautiful  but then when they finish and they are successful they attend prom to celebrate this successful, or when someone keeps making duaa to get married but then the wedding is all haram after all the duaa that person made.

Allah mentions these type of the people in the Quran the ones who when Allah provides them they say they will make charity and be of the righteous, but after Allah provides for them they become cheap and they turn away from Allah.

This is not the type of person our episode is about but rather about the one who seeks help from Allah all the time. This person starts their day with leaving thier house reciting the duaa that seeks Allahs help, and before this person sleeps the duaa that prophet recited this person recites.

This person seeks Allah in three :
1. Righteousness: you are not going to be able to make sujud or duaa except with the permission of Allah. This is why the Prophet used to begin his khutbahs with a duaa in which He said we Seek Allahs help.

2. Rizik gifts, wealth, etc: an idea, a dollar or anything will not come to you except through Allah.
3. Times of hardships: if the prophet ever had a hardship he would go make salat

Beach, Sunset, Contemplation, Salat

Although the Jersey Shore is not very clean and kind of green, it is still gorgeous mashAllah. I prayed in alot of places, but nothing is like praying in the beach, subhanAllah the sound of the waves in the background, your feet on the soft sand. I would love to spend fajr, and maghrib on the beach! Im sure that is something commonly done in the Arab world (where the beaches are more beautiful!)

After we were done from the beach, we cross the street to some type of island and the sunset was gorgeous mashAllah reflecting its colors upon the water.

Hijab Preserves & Magnifies Beauty, Beautiful Lessons From Non Muslims

Sometimes we have to be reminded of our beautiful religion from non Muslims. This past week I was reminded of my beautiful hijab and my precious prayers from three different non Muslims.

The first conversation was with fellow students on was how amazing it is for hijabis to preserve their beauty for one man.

The second conversation was with my former student about how much he loved the Muslims preservance of the salat.

The other day I attended a professional conference in New York with two non Muslims. As we were walking we were talking about how diverse our colleges student body is and the advantages of this diversity. Of course like any conversation I have with a non Muslim they asked me about my hijab. The girls found it beautiful that only my husband would see my "beauty". I dont recall the exact words these girls but I think it was the word preserve... how Muslim women preserve their beauty only for one man and how lucky that man is, and how his reaction when he sees his bride on his wedding! If you think about it, hijabis do look amazing on their wedding because you know what there is something special about the hijab. We use it to presevre our beauty, but I think it only magnifies our beauty once we remove it! Anything you do for the sake of Allah is  beautifued.

AlhumdAllah for hijab a blessing for sisters and brothers alike.
Doyou think Allah will not magnfiy the beauty of the girl who has covered?

He is a former student of mines (when I was 17!) and current security guard on the campus I work at.  I told him I was walking to the Mosque to make my prayer. Then he spoke to me about he considered becoming Muslim but his wife was resentful of the idea. He said the thing he loves about Muslims is our prayer and how we will stop everything just to connect to God ( these are not his exact words, but they were somewhere along these lines). He said he remembers  as a child when he was in his country which was filled with Muslims, his friends would all stop the soccer game to make their prayers. He called us peaceful and connected to God. I tried to give him some indirect dawah and handed him Yasmine Moghaeds book Reclaiming  Your Heart. AlhumdAllah he is actually reading it! He even asked me to pray for him, and then he asked me again if I prayed for him!!

MSA Family, We Are Like Ahul Al Khaf,

And keep yourself patient  with those who call upon their Lord in the morning and the evening, seeking His countenance. And let not your eyes pass beyond them, desiring adornments of the worldly life, and do not obey one whose heart We have made heedless of Our remembrance and who follows his desire and whose affair is ever in neglect.

18:28

When you read that ayah in Surat Al Khaf, who comes to your mind for the first part, and who comes to your mind for the second part.

If you think about it the MSA can be comparable to that of the youth of Surat Al Khaf.
We are surrounded around so much fitnah in the college life, but we take refuge in our MSA.

AlhumdAllah this semester I was blessed to be surrounded around amazing Muslims in my MSA. I actually choose my graduate college because of the awesome MSA they have. You know your MSA is beautiful when you feel like you are a huge family and you love one another for the sake of Allah.

Two days ago one of our MSA eboard memebers was sick  and in the hospital, and he needed our duaa. The responses were instant and I had a full inbox with over 20 messages from different members within 2 hours. AlhumdAllah he got better but he is still sick (a virus got to his heart ).

The next day, someone came up with the idea of completing the Quran for him toghther. I wanted to cry when I noticed how quickly everyone was responding, in a matter of 4 hours the whole list was filled and all the Juzs were taken mashAllah. It made me smile so much to see how much we care about one another.

I realized its really improtant to have a good MSA in your college years. Before my current college, I was in a college where the MSA was not doing much and the Muslims were not very connected to one another. It was discouraging and I spent most of my time with my Co Workers  at Campus Life and although I got to teach them alotttttt about Islam from why I cant shake his hand, to  them appreciating me breaking for prayer,http://hudawritess.blogspot.com/2012/12/dawah-at-its-finest-awesome-real.html , I was really missing out on that Muslim community. It was an ugly feeling.  During my first year of community college, I did have a  MSA but it was still not the same time.

I cannot thank Allah enough for the blessing of having an "MSA Family", and our chaplain who is like a grandfather for all of us! MashAllah

I keep thinking of the undergraduate graduation ceremony and how most of the MSA members I only meet for one semester were graduting. After the ceremony we took a bunch of group pictures with our Shiekh chaplain and everyone was introducing each other to their parents it was seriously like were a family, as if I have known these people all my life.....

The MSA family is what love for the sake of Allah feels like, pure and beautiful.

Sunset Goes Quick

In the summer I watch the sunset alot. The sun goes from a  huge bulk of shine and then it slowly shrinks...if you watch it towards the very end can miss if you turn around for like two seconds literally! It's amazing subhanAllah!!

24:43

Do you not see that Allah drives clouds? Then He brings them together, then He makes them into a mass, and you see the rain emerge from within it. And He sends down from the sky, mountains [of clouds] within which is hail, and He strikes with it whom He wills and averts it from whom He wills. The flash of its lightening almost takes away the eyesight. Quran Surat Al Noor 43

Moez Masud, Jannah Makes Hardships Worth It, Angels Say Salaam To You Oh Patient People: Enter Paradise!

Sunset views from home! SubhanAllah...imagine Jannah !

After Salat Al Isha we prayed two extra salat, and during the prayer the Sheikh recited  Surat Ya Seen. During the recitation, there was a mention of ayas about  " Enter Jannah". I though of the beloved in my life who have gone through hardships and how in the end their reward is Jannah inshAllah. I thought of how this dunya is just a means towards achieving Jannah.

Then I came across this lecture which is exctally what I needed to hear, here is the meaning of some of this lecture

Moez Masud: The Journey of Yaqyn (Certainty): Why Did Allah Create us?
رحلة اليقين.. الحلقة الرابعة.. لماذا خُلقنا؟

"Can you imagine on the Day of Judgement we are going to understand the wisdom for everything that happened in our lives. Why was I sick in this test? Why did my parents die? Why did this happen? Why did I get this sickness?

When we enter "Dar Al Haq" The House of Truth, it wont matter if we were sick, my body will be with me healthy , everything will be good with the Adl, The Most Just.

The test of this world is not just a means of passing or failing.. when someone is successful  and they pass they are raised to a higher level, they will enter Jannah. The angels will say to them (people of Paradise) "Salaam Alakum Taybtum " Peace Be Upon You"  You were taybeen (good)
"So enter Paradise forver".

(I cant find the same ayah he spoke about but here is a similar one from Surat Al Rad 13:24 to 25)

13:23

Gardens of perpetual residence; they will enter them with whoever were righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their descendants. And the angels will enter upon them from every gate,  saying,

13:24

"Peace be upon you for what you patiently endured.
And excellent is the final home."

More ayahs on angels saying salaam!:

Moez Masud, AlYaqyn: Certainty

"Alyaqyn naaimah: Certainty in Allah is a blessing, a huge blessing" Moez Masud

There is a reason why I have the quote I have as my profile quote...I t feel like sometimes when I am not doing so well Allah sends me signs or messages or I come across a lecture I need to hear.

Today I was searching for songs on the revolution after I started reading

Wael Ghonim:
Revolution 2.0: The Power of the People Is Greater Than the People in Power: A Memoir

Here is the link to the book:

I  recommend this book to anyone who is interested in understanding the inside story on how the Egyptian revolution began (even if you are not Egyptian!)

While I was listing to Moez revolution songs I came across "Moez Masuds" lectures.
He is like my 2nd favorite speaker after Mustfah Hosny since their styles are very similar.

Although there is alot one can learn and pick up from his lectures this part reallly hit my heart
(sorry couldnt write the whole lecture!)

He said:

"Alyaqyn naaimah"

Certainty in Allah is a blessing, a huge blessing

(if you want to understand the concept of certainty in depth check out my notes from Dr.Islam Elfahymouis lecture)http://hudawritess.blogspot.com/2012/04/yaqyan.html

"Alyaqyn tamutynan"

Certainty is rest

"Alyaqayn raht baayl"

Certainty makes a person relaxed

The Status of the Mosque: Remeber Who Owns This House: Allah

Today it was hot and boring at home, so I told my dad lets go to the Masjid.

Everytime I go to the Mosque I always get that "nafs al mutmana" peaceful soul feeling. Even if its for one rakah or one tear drop its more worthy then this whole dunya. Im sure you have felt an nafs al mutmana during your visit to Allah House.

As soon as my favorite sheikh begins reciting the
Quran in the Mosque I forget about all of the worries I had.

When I go to the mosque I know where I am:
I am in the best place a person can go to in this dunya.

When I am going to the Mosque I am going to Allahs House in the dunya,  I think this is the closest one can get to Jannah.

People forget the status of the mosque and this is why they dont feel like it is their duty to keep the Mosque clean, to help out in Ramadan or during dinners.

Once your heart becomes attached to the masjid you wont want to go anywhere else for fun. The mosque will become your main destination where you can listen to lectures, pray in jamaa, meet people for the sake of Allah, get good deeds, and be reminded of Allah which leads to "tamatan al qulb" the rest of the heart as described in Surat Al Hadid

Whenever you hear kids or even adults complain about the "mosque" and oh "its people" remind them of the status of the Mosque, remind them of Who Owns this House.
Remind them that the Masjid is Allahs House and how much honor it deserves.

When you see anything on the floor, or you find that the bathroom is not so clean, dont simply complain about how the Mosque is unclean, but rather take it upon yourself to clean it because guess what this is Allahs House and if you dont take care of it dont expect the person after you to take care of it. Imagine on the Day of Judgement how much reward you can get for voluntarily mainitinag the House of Allah!

Today at the end of the lecture after salat al isha I thought of the amazing feeling I get everytime I go to the Mosque and how the lectures are always so relevenat to my life. I thought of being of the 7 who will be shaded under Allahs shade in the Day of Judgement and how one of these people is the
"The one whos heart is attached to the Masjid"

And then right after I thought of that the sheikh ended the night with a duaa in which he said "Oh Allah make us of those who are shaded because their heart is attached to the Mosque"! Ameen!

Seek Allah, Find Signs, Hope After Fear

SubhanAllah when you seek Allah with your heart and you have hope in Him, you always find the resources and help you need presented right in front of you moments later.

I was in search of a feeling of "al amnah" safety, a feeling of I should not be worried of anything in this dunya as long as Allah is with me. I was thinking about the ayah of how Allah is closer to you then your juglar vein. This is enough to make you think Allah is with me, I am strong.

During my visit today to the Masjid for  meetings, my favorite Sheikh recited one of my favorite Surahs during salat al isha. It has been a while since I prayed isha at the mosque and he recited one of my favorite surahs, Surat Al Hadid which had ayas I needed to hear.
I also rembered Ramadan and the beautiful late night tarawehh prayers that bring you sooooo much peace !! Ya Allah!!!

He began reciting from ayah 16, but the ayahs before it contain the concept of "nour" and how on the Day of Judgement some people will have nour. I always try to imagine how it would be to be of those people who have nour on the Day of Judgement. I always wonder if you can attain this state of "nour" on the earth.

57:12

On the Day you see the believing men and believing women, their light proceeding before them and on their right, [it will be said], "Your good tidings today are [of] gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein you will abide eternally." That is what is the great attainment. Aya 12

The ayah after this is about the ones who wont have nour !

57:13

On the [same] Day the hypocrite men and hypocrite women will say to those who believed, "Wait for us that we may acquire some of your light." It will be said, "Go back behind you and seek light." And a wall will be placed between them with a door, its interior containing mercy, but on the outside of it is torment.(aya 13).

Then there is the ayas where the Sheikh began to recite: aya 16

57:16

Has the time not come for those who have believed that their hearts should become humbly submissive at the remembrance of Allah and what has come down of the truth? And let them not be like those who were given the Scripture before, and a long period passed over them, so their hearts hardened; and many of them are defiantly disobedient" (Aya 16)

following ayah:

When he was reciting this ayah I thought of the conversation I had with one of my co workers who was telling me how he loves Islam and he wanted to convert but his wife did not want him to. He grew up in the country of Cameron which has alot of Muslims and he said he loved how when it came to prayer they would stop everything just to pray, and the calm feeling one gets when they connect with God.
This ayah reminded me of our conversation because sometimes unintentionally we kind of forget about the remembrance of Allah. Look up the words "Remember Allah" in the Quran index and see how many ayas come up. Allah is constantly reminding us to remember Him. When we remember Him our hearts are at rest and this is what my co worker was trying to tell me. SubhanAllah how you can learn from a non Muslim! Please make duaa for him inshAllah.

Ayah 20 was about "hayat al dunya" (I love this term!)

57:20

"Know that the life of this world is but amusement and diversion and adornment and boasting to one another and competition in increase of wealth and children - like the example of a rain whose [resulting] plant growth pleases the tillers; then it dries and you see it turned yellow; then it becomes [scattered] debris. And in the Hereafter is severe punishment and forgiveness from Allah and approval. And what is the worldly life except the enjoyment of delusion" (Aya 20).

A good lecture which gave me a better understanding of this ayah was a Mustfah Hosny short 4 min lecture I heard (cant find it).

Its amazing how this ayah describes our state so much....the word "competition: watafakhurunbaynakum".  Are we competing for who has a better job or better car or are we competing for who is racing to Jannah....

The ayah after this one starts with the word "race"

This is what we should competing and racing to :

57:21
"Race toward forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whose width is like the width of the heavens and earth, prepared for those who believed in Allah and His messengers. That is the bounty of Allah which He gives to whom He wills, and Allah is the possessor of great bounty" (Ayah 21)

This ayahs descirption of width is amazing !

Then I heard the following ayahs about situations we perceive as negative. This ayah really hit my heart as I really needed that reminder....the reminder that:
57:22

No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a register before We bring it into being    indeed that, for Allah , is easy

And that I shouldnt be sad for these matters which are all apart of "hayat al dunya" but at the same time I shouldnt get to excited or show off about the good I have ...just be moderate ...love this!!

57:23

"In order that you may not be sad over matters that you fail to get, nor rejoice because of that which has been given to you. And Allah does not like everyone self deluded and boastful" (Aya 23)

Seek Allah and you will find a million signs in front of you...what a beautiful feeling from "fear" to "al amanah" safety! All because of a trip to the masjid<3
