Elfaymoui Lecture Notes:Symptoms

The Eslam Elfahymoui lecture series has finally returned, alhumdAllah..

Lets recap on what he taught us before the end of Ramadan as it is helpful to understand to his new lectures which are a continuation.

There are 2 main sickness or disease of the heart
1. "Doubt in Allah-no certainty-yaqyn"
2. "The love of this world"

He termed envy, jealous, and etc as symptoms of the these two main sickness.

Example: You will have envy if you dont have certainty in Allah. The one who envy's doubts Allah's wisdom.
If you want to read more past notes to understand his current series:

The current series which began around the first week of September is about the symptoms of these two diseases, unfortunately I did not have my notebook in the past weeks but heres what I remember and for today humdAllah i got my notebook :D

Sunday Sept 15th :

Symptom: Backbiting
Disease: (I dont remeber, I need to ask someone, if anyone has notes please email them!)

Sunday Sept 22nd :

Symptom = Hasad-Envy
Disease: Doubt in Allah, and Love of this dunya-world

This symptom comes from both disease, doubt in Allah, and love of this dunya....
When you have hasad you are doubting Allah because its like you are questioning Allahs will. How can you hate the person who has the blessing if this blessing was given to them by Allah? Instead of envying people which gets you nothing, ask Allah to bless their blessing, and to grant you the same.

Sunday Sept 30th

Symptom: Lying
Disease: Doubt in Allah

Islam Elfahymoui said:

Train yourself to be truthful. Lying comes from doubt in Allah. If you think lying will benefit you, you dont beleive or you have doubt that Allah is the One who provides you with benefit.

The Prophet said: "The beleiver does not lie"

If you lie to push harm away from yourself, it means you think Allah will not help you.

Lying is the opposite of eman. Muslims should be known around the world for thier honesty.

As you grow in this life, you will realize this world is nothing.

How can you make dawah if you are a liar?

There are some excpetions to lying..an example is lying to your wife to make her feel good.

For an example when your wife asks you "Do you still think I am beautiful"? Even if she is not as beautiful as she was when you just got married as she is a mother of four, you should agree with her and tell her that she is beautiful.  You are not really lying because you see her beauty in the symbol she is, who she is, and what she has done for you not how she looks.

Parking, Late To Salat, Relax

Im watching this Arabic show called " If the Prophet was amongst us" and they did something very creative, informative and funny at the same time....

When you are late to salat where do you end up parking?

In this episode the host of the show the host went outside the mosque and he put a green cover over any cars that were parked wrong or blocking someone else. On the green cover in white arabic writing it said : "If he was with us" referring to the Prophet Muhmmad.

When the driver of the car would come back to thier car the host would ask this question....

He said we rush into the salat and we park wrong, but its like the Prophet already knew people would do this and then he brings to our attention the following hadith :

The Messenger of Allah said: "When the Iqamah is called for the prayer, do not come running. Come walking with tranquility. Whatever you catch up with, pray, and whatever you miss, complete it."

The Prophet is saying do not rush to the salat, so even if you have to park properly and then walk slowly to the salat its okay! Do not run!! He even gives us permissions to catch up on our salat only what we can.

Mustfah Hosny Lecture Contunied

Mustfah Hosny Lecture Attempted Translation, See Previous Post,
This is a continuation of the last post:
14:13- 18:00 Minutes

إركب معنا - تعرّف على حب سيدنا محمد لأمته - مصطفى حسني

"I want to tell you about a story...there were two girls going to the mall. Each one of them had alot of money to buy eid clothes, and the eid was the next day. In the mall there is the salat area and they went to pray salatul duhr, and they saw a girl who is in charge of cleaning the masjid and the bathroom wearing a really old dress and shoes that were riped. They looked and said, we are going to buy brand new eid clothes while this girls clothes are so old and riped? We have fine clothes, so they they made a decision to that each one of them is going to take $200 from thier eid clothes money to put them toghther and buy this girl a nice dress and shoes for eid. They keept shopping until they bought her the clothes and shoes, and then during saltul almaghrib they went to look for her at the masjid to give her the clothes. They found her and she was making sujud for a very long time, when she completed they handed her the clothes and shoes and they said eid is tomorrow and this for you. The girl started to cry greatly and the girls also started to cry and they asked why are you crying we got you gifts. The girl said last week a man came to ask for me for marriage, I borrowed a dress and shoes, and my iryta faitha (Reading of Surat AlFaitha) is on the second day of Eid. I was very embrassed and shy to go ask my neighbors for an outfit for this event.

2:186
I knew that Allah says , "
And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided."
But I didnt know He answered this quickly.I knew that He brings but I didnt know this quickly. At this moment I really believed in Allah and the Prophet (not that she didnt believe before). I took the beautiful  dress and shoes.

Now Mustfah Hosny is speaking his own words:

I dont know anyone who can do something to make people love Allah and to let them believe that people love Allah, and to let people believe that Allah is next to us. I look at these two girls in the story and I say, you are on the path of the Prophet SAW. On the Day of Judgement, just as Prophet Musa asked Allah who are the most beloved to you oh Allah?  Allah SWT said, the people most beloved to me are those who loved Me and whoever made me beloved to my creation
(sounds better in Arabic).

Mustfah Hosny On Angels In Gatherings

Recnetly there was a HUGE convention in Jordan titled "Arokbo Maana" Come with With Us (the theme comes from the story of Prophet Nuh, and the people who came on his ship).

This convention has some of my favorite arabic speakers from the Iqraa Channel such as, Mustafah Hosny, "Sheikh Al-Arifi, the author of my favroite book Dont Be Sad, the smiley shiekh(forgot his name).

Here is Mustfah Hosnys talk. Heres an attempted translation of this amazing detialed lecture about the angels who come when the belivers gather for the sake of Allah.
I appoligize if anything was translated wrong, but I hope you get the main messages.

إركب معنا - تعرّف على حب سيدنا محمد لأمته - مصطفى حسني

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N--C-G4lnp4&feature=youtu.be

I used to hear a hadith by the Prophet and everyday that passes I get a better understanding of the haidith.

The Prophet gathered the sahbha, and he said on the Day of Judgement, around the arsh-throne of Al-Rahman manabar (like the thing the sheikh stands on for Jummah) of light. People will sit on it , thier faces are filled with noor-light, thier clothing is of noor-light,

The sahbah said: Oh Rasoul Allah descirbe them to us so we can love them

The Prophet said: They are people who loved one another for the sake of Allah.
They werent realtives, they gathered only to love one another for the sake of Allah.

When I first entered the convention and I saw the people who were waiting for a seat, rthose standing, those waiting outside....  I thought of the Prophet.

And I thought about how I am in a country  and I am so excited to meet the people of Jordan, even though  I dont know any of you. You probably seen me on tv, but there is no one here whom I know as a close friend.

The scholars taught us that love always grows through trust, respect, etc, hut this stuff didnt happen.

There is something bigger here from that , Allah SWT who has gathered our hearts upon the love of one man-The Prophet.

I thought about the legacy of the Prophet. His legacy began in a small town and then the whole world started to talk about him.

I just want to tell you and remind myself that without the Prophet none of us would know one another nor would we know Allah.

I want to talk about the angels
Allah said to the angels:

Surat AlBaqrah aya 30
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority."

They angels said, "Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?" Allah said, "Indeed, I know that which you do not know."

The angels say oh Allah you created people who arent not going to obey you, and are going to cause corrpution on earth , while we as angels  "wanahnu nusabbihu bihamdika wanuqaddisu lakaqala"(aya)

We Praise You oh Allah.
naqdadisu lakqa means we the angels are contsnaly cleansing ourselves-tahara, for an example you know when you are meeting with someone improtnat you iron your clothes, you put on perfume, naqdisu laqka is like that.

The angels are saying we do this  oh Allah, but the people are not going to.

Allah said: "I know that which you do not know" (Aya).

Its like Allah is saying you angels have a point, there will be some people who will forget Me but there are people I know them by thier name, they will leave everything because of Me.

That is why while we sit in a gathering lik this one, I remind you of the hadith,

That the Prophet taught us, about the angels who were created just to tell Allah about these types of types of gatherings for His sake. So when we sit in gatherings like these for the sake of Allah, He knows, He doesnt need someone to come tell Him about this gathering.

This is so you can know your status with Allah when you come to these gatherings for His sake.

Allah tells the angels: What is the news? Didnt you say the people will corrput the earth, what are these people (at the gathering) doing?
The angels replied: We saw them rembering You oh Allah.
Allah tells them: Do these people see Me?
Angels: No ya Rab, they do not see You.
Allah said: How about if they saw Me what would they do
Angels said :Ya Rab if they saw You, they would be stronger/ more constant in thier remebrance of You.
Allah said : What do they ask for?
Angels said: Ya Rab, They are asking for the Paradise
Allah said: Did they see the Paradise?
Angels said: No they did not see the Paradise
Allah said: What if they saw the Paradise?
Angels who already saw the Paradise said: they would be even stronger/more contsnat in demaniding Paradise  and they would seek refuge from the Hell Fire
Allah said: Did they see the Hell Fire?
Angels who saw the hell fire said: No they did not see the Hell Fire, if they saw the Hell Fire they would be stronger/more contstant in trying to escape from it.

Allah said : Bear witness that I have forgiven them (the people of the gathering)
The angels said: Oh Allah amongst them are  constant sinners who is not coming for the sake of Allah, You are going to forgive them because your Kareem, and Allah says 'For him I forgive also".

The one who is satsifsied/pleased with the least in this dunya is Allah swt....

Someone asked the Prophet,
What pleases Allah the most ? Dying for His Sake? he says no,  rather  Allah is pleased with the one who eats and drinks a small amount and says humdAllah, this is enough to please Allah.

the ulma answer the question of why does this small act please Allah the most?

If there is a very rich man and someone gives him a napkin as a gift because he rembered him, the rich man was in shock he said this is for me? I am veryyyy pleased with this gift, the best thing for me is when you rember me even if its a small thing. The improtant thing is not what you give me even if its small but rather it is the thought and that you have remeberd me.

The Prophet said whoever said: SubhanAllah wa bahimdi 100 times (3minutes) Allah will forgive His sins even if its the amount of the sea.

You spent alot of times in sins, and it only takes you 3 minutes to erase all your sins?
The scholars said Yes, the idea is that you are spending time rembering Allah, just keep rembering Him!
And that is why Allah is very pleased with this gathering as I speak so He can say to the angels rember when you said the people will not rember Allah, look at these people, and when the anges said look at this sinner who did not come for your sake? Even Him Allah loves him.

I want to thank you all and that you pleased Allah. Allah teaches us that

"A  young person beleives in His Book, and is pleased with the rizqk I have bestowed upon him, and stops his desires for my sake, to me he is like my angels <3333"

The youth who has come to this gathering, left the dunya, because he is looking for Allah, because Allah is  valuebale to him, be on this path that Allah is the center of my life....is the thing that is driving and controling my heart Allah? And anything I love should bring me to Allah

14 Minutes...
To be contunied inshAllah

Hardships, Duaa Of The Prophets, Allah Will Get You Through!

41:51

41:51

And when We bestow favor upon man, he turns away and distances himself; but when evil touches him, then he is full of extensive supplication.

During times of hardships or moments of sadness if one does not turn to Allah at that moment one will only feel the hardship  but once you decide to turn back to Allah you will feel that ease He mentions in the aya "Inaa maa Aalsour yasoura" "Verily with every hardship there is ease"

As soon as your heart becomes focused on Allah, and you decide to pray those extra rakahs, prolong your sujud, or make some sincere duaa you feel that He is close, and you feel the ease.

Its ussually during times of sadness in this dunya that we truly remeber  Allah and we go back to Him and it is when you remeber Allah your heart is at ease as He mentions in the Quran...thats probably why we feel this ease during the hardship, subhanAllah..walahu Alaam if im wrong.

Twice during Ramadan the sheikh at my mosque made this reallllyyy unique duaa with the duaas of the Prophets (some of them are in the ayas attached)

Dont be lazy and read the ayas, and  pay attention to the pattern of these ayas,

Allah says all these Prophets :Ayub,Ismail, Yunus, Zakriya, made duaa, and He answered them, and Mercy was bestowed upon them...

I love these ayas, they surely give a person hope that Allah will answer us as well inshallah...

Surah Al-Anbiya' ( 21 ) Translated :: Mishary Al-Afasy (I attached it from the ayas mentioned)

21:83
21:83

And Ayub, when he cried to his Lord, (saying): Harm has afflicted me, and Thou art the most Merciful of the merciful.

21:84
21:84

Therefore We responded to him and took off what harm he had, and We gave him his family and the like of them with them: a mercy from Us and a reminder to the worshippers.

21:85
21:85

And Ismail and Idris and Zulkifl; all were of the patient ones;

21:86
21:86

And We caused them to enter into Our mercy, surely they were of the good ones.

21:87
21:87

And Yunus, when he went away in wrath, so he thought that We would not straiten him, so he called out among afflictions: There is no god but Thou, glory be to Thee; surely I am of those who make themselves to suffer loss.

21:88
21:88

So We responded to him and delivered him from the grief and thus do We deliver the believers.

21:89
21:89

And Zakariya, when he cried to his Lord: O my Lord leave me not alone; and Thou art the best of inheritors.

21:90
21:90

So We responded to him and gave him Yahya and made his wife fit for him; surely they used to hasten, one with another In deeds of goodness and to call upon Us, hoping and fearing and they were humble before Us.

Recalim Your Heart, Al-Musawir Contd.

I came across the following in Yasmine Mogaheds book, Reclaim Your Heart- page 25-26
(If you want this book, you can find it on amazon.com, I can order it for you if you need it!)

I think its important to read what she writes as it adds important details and a deeper and better understanding  to what I wrote in my last post.

She writes,

" The purpose of the glorious sun, first fallen snow, crescent moons, and breathtaking oceans is not just to decorate this lonely planet.  The purpose is far deeper than that. The purpose is as Allah told us in the Quran: (She quotes the same aya I quoted in my post, but I added them on this post also)

All this beauty was created as a sign- but one that can only be understood by a select group: those who reflect (think, understand, use thier in intellect) and remember God in every human condition (standing, sitting, lying down).

So even the sunset must be looked through. Even there we cannot lose ourselves. We must look beyond even that majestic beauty and color to see the Beauty behind it. For the beauty behind it is the True beauty, the Source of all beauty. All that we see is a reflection.

We must study the stars, the trees, the snow-capped mountains in order to read the message behind them. Because if we do not, we are like the one who finds a message inside a beautifully decorated bottle, yet become so enamored by the bottle, that he never even opens the message.

But what is that message, stuck inside the intensity of stars? There is a sign- but a sign of what? These signs are a pointer to Him, to His greatness, His majesty, His beauty. A pointer to His might and His power. Study, reflect, absorb the beauty and majesty of whats created-but dont stop there. Dont lose yourself in beauty. Look beyond it and consider that if the creation is that majestic, that great, that beautiful, how majestic and great and beautiful must be the Creator.

Finally realize, experiential that "You have not created all this without a purpose, Exalted is You" -3:191.

Purpose, everything has one. Nothing in the heavens and the earth or inside of me or inside of you is created without purpose. No event in your life, no sadness, no delight, no pain, no pleasure...no loss, was created without a purpose. So just as we must read the " message inside the bottle" of the sun and the moon and the sky, so too must we examine the message in our own life experiences.

We are always looking for signs. We are always asking for God to  "speak" to us. But those signs are all around us. They are in everything. God is always "speaking". The question is whether we are listening.

3:190Verily! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alternation of night and day, there are indeed signs for those of understanding- 3:190
3:191Those who remember Allah always, and in prayers, standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides, and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): "Our Lord! You have not created (all) this without purpose, glory to You!
Give us salvation from the torment of the Fire" -3:191
