Tafsir Surat Yasin,Part 6, Ayat 55 to 58: People of Paradise, As Salaam Greets You With Salaam

36:55

Indeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation -

36:56

They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches.

36:57

For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request [or wish]
36:58

And "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord

Now we see that the previous ayahs were about the Day of Judgment and these ayahs are about Jannah. For the believers, the qiyam will be a stepping stone, just to get them to their destination of Jannah.

55 all you are busy with in Jannah is enjoying your time, eating fruits, relaxing

56 you will go to Jannah with your husband because even in Jannah one needs companionship.

You will recline which is the posture of relaxtion, on "Alaarqyik" which is like lounge chairs under the shade.

57 In Jannah you will have everything you want

58 . but after all these enjoyments you will hear Allah say: (this part is beautiful!!)

"Salaam" Peace
This salaam will be the ultimate blessing, hearing Allah

Jannah is called Dar Al Salaam The House of Peace,

Allah who is Asalaam The Most Peaceful, will greet you to Dar Al Salaam The House of Peace, with the greeting of "Salaam" Peace.

Tafsir Surat Yasin,Part 5: Ayat 47 to 54

36:47

And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allah has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allah had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error."

36:48

And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

36:49

They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.

36:50

And they will not be able  to give any instruction, nor to their people can they return.

36:51

And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.

36:52

They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?"  The reply will be, "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth."

36:53
It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.

36:54

So today no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do.

47:
The nonbelievers are using "qadr" to justify their sin.

Allah uses and chooses people to give charity and His blessings. We want to be of those people. Prophet Ibrahim used to make the duaa "Alhumaa ajlaanee maubrook aynm kuntoo" Oh Allah make me bring Baraka blessings wherever I go.

48 to 49 The word "yahsomoun" means that while the disbelievers are urging and denying the day of  Judgment t, it will come so quick they will not even notice. They wont have time to go back to their families or do anything.

51 to 52 is about the believers, their grave is peaceful and this is why the Day of Judgment will be "quick" for them, because these people will not feel the punishment.

Benefits of this section:

Allah simply tells us this is what is going  to happen

People of the Hereafter will have the full senses to smell, speak, think

When you believe in the Qiyam you are protected from the punishment

Tafsir Surat Yasin,Part 4, Ayat 41 to 46. Part 3

36:41

And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a  ship.
36:42

And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.
36:43

And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved
36:44

Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.
36:45

But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy... "
36:46

And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away.

The ship in aya 41 is in reference to the ship of Prophet Nuh.

Aya 42, Allah is telling us to think about these blessings that Allah provided us with in the dunya such as ships and camels to ride upon.

Aya 45: Be grateful to Allah for the blessings He bestowed upon you. Think of the perfection of creation (the previous ayas about the movement of the moon and sun)
Aya 46, the word "maardooun" means those who ignore and don't care about the miracles around them

Tafsir Surat Yasin,Part 3, Ayat 37 to 40. Part 3: Sign 2 of 3 Sunset, Moon, Orbit

See previous posts for more notes

Surat Yasin Tafsir Part 3 Ayat 31 to 40
Mishary Recitation of these ayahs (nice to listen to while reading the tafsir)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SW1UoZ_Jk68&feature=player_detailpage#t=476s

This is the second of the 3 "ayat, signs" mentioned in Surat Yasin.

The following ayahs are some of my favorites in this class because I always watch the sunset and I was just thinking about how quickly it goes down and how it goes from a huge bulk of sun into a nothing subhanAllah!! Watch how amazing these descriptions are of the ayahs describing how the sun "peels"!
I am also posting a bunch of sunset pictures I took this month alone subhanAllah.

36:37

And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.

36:38

And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.
36:39

And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns  appearing like the old date
36:40

It is not allowable for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.

In aya 37 Allah uses the term "Naslikh" which literally means to peel. Look at this word and think of the process of the sunset, it literally looks like it is peeling when it is becoming dark.  The layers of sunlight are literally peeled as the sun goes down. You literally see the gradients of the sun go down, the light doesn't just leave.

Aya 38: Who other then Allah, the Almighty, the All Knowing can control the motion of the sun .

Aya 39: Allah uses the term "manzal" every night there is a manzal for the moon. The term "Eid" is also mentioned in this ayah which means return, the moon returns. Until the moon comes back it is like the dates that are ready and removed from the tree.

Aya 40: Allah uses the term "falq" which literally means orbit.

One of the primary messages within these ayas is the Power of Allah. Look at these magnificent objects, the moon, sun. Time comes from their movements. This shows us how precise Allah controls these objects (subhanAllah!). Allah is telling us He is in control of everything even the sun and the moon, do you doubt that He can bring the dead to life?

These ayahs show us the perfection of how Allah describes the day and the night. We as Muslims should not be neglectful and immune of the sun and moon. Allah tells us that the moon and the sun and the orbit are "ayat" to remind us of Him.  Studying science should remind us of Allah, and increase our eman.

Also there is a hadith  that the Prophet said when the sun sets it goes to the Throne of Allah to make sujud and gets permission to return for sunrise except on the Day of Judgment.

In the Quran Allah tells us that everything in the Heavens and the Earth including the sun "yasubhun" worship Allah.

Tafsir Surat Yasin Part 2 Ayahs 33 to 26: Sign 1 of 3: Allah Shows Us His Power To Ressurrect Through Land & Plants

Check previous post for previous ayahs

Surat Yasin Tafsir Ayahs 33 to

33 to 36

36:33

And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.

36:34

And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs -

36:35
That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful?

36:36
Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know.

In this section Allah mentions 3 "Signs" "Ayat". Ayat are indicators of miracles, ayat show us the power of Allah. In these ayat He is showing us His Power to Resurrect.

The first aya, sign or proof is aya 33 in which Allah is telling look how He brings the dead to life. This dead land is an example, it is brought to life with the grains and fruits.

Aya 34 Allah mentions date palms and grapes. These fruits are commonly mentioned in the Quran. Allah tells us that He is the One who grants us water.

Aya 35: yes it is true that man puts in efforts to irrigate and plant the fruits but who other then Alllah is the One who provides you with the water and the seeds.

Tafsir Surat Yasin, AlMaghrib, Notes Part 1: Ayas 1 to 33

This weekend I am taking the AlMaghrib Instuite tafsir course on Surat Yasin and Surat Al Rahman
The course was originally fiqh of dua, but I was really excited when I knew that it would be a tafsir course. The tafsir courses really help alotttt when you read the Quran. You get to read the Surah with full meaning and understanding of its lessons and wisdom alhumdAllah.

I am going to divide the notes into parts because it seems like everytime I take the tafisr courses I don't finish publishing all of my notes.

This will be part 1 which is Surat Yasin ayahs 1 to 36

I missed out on  ayas 2 to 12 of Surat Yasin because I had to leave early,

Notes are in Green text

The main theme of Surat Yasin is to prove that there is indeed a Resurrection
The first 12 verses tells us that there are those who believe and those who disbelieve. In ayahs 13 to 19 Allah gives us an example of a city in which there are those who disbelieve.

Ayat 13 to 19:

36:13

And present to them an example: the people of the city, when the messengers came to it

36:14

When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened them with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you."

36:15
They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies."

36:16

They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you,

36:17

And we are not responsible except for clear notification."

36:18

They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."

36:19

They said, "Your omen is with yourselves. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people."

The city referred in aya 13 is most likely the city of Antikya which is currently in Turkey but in that time it was apart of Syria. At the time the population of this city was mostly Jews and Christians.

The ayah mentions "almursloon", these messengers don't have to be Prophet. When Allah refers to Prophets he says "Marsloon". Notice how aya 13 has "al" before rasoul, but in ayah 14 there is no "al" before the word messenger.

Look again in aya 15, there is a laam before marsloon. This laam is to show emphasis. Allah sends this city a messenger, but the people deny him. Allah sends us humans as messengers, because if the messengers were angels people would not be  able to relate to them.

The scholars believe the people that the messenger was sent to are Jews, because in ayah 15 we see that the people describe Allah as AlRahman. Jews are not allowed to mention Allahs names because they believe it is to sacred to mention, but the Jews can mention AlRahman.

The people of the city told the messenger that he brought them bad luck (aya 18).

Ayat 20 to 27

36:20

And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers.

36:21

Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided.

36:22

And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned?

36:23
Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me?
36:24
Indeed, I would then be in manifest error.

36:25

Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me."

36:26

It was said, "Enter Paradise." He said, "I wish my people could know

36:27

O  how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored."

In ayah 20 we see that a man comes from the same town (antikya) but from the other side: this indicates that the news of the messengers has already reached the other side of town and this man is most likely a Muslim convert. The word "yassyaa" means he is coming eagerly; this shows us that Allahs help will come from sources you don't expect.

In aya 21 there is mention of wage. The man is telling the people that unlike worshipping a king who receives money and gain, there is no worldly gain for the one who believes and sincerely worships Allah.

Aya 23 shows us a profound dawah technique this man uses. Instead of criticizing the people he is presenting the message to he speaks in a "I" form.

Aya 26 Allah does not tell us but the man was killed. This man is in Jannah and he is still worried about the people who wronged him.

Ayat 28 to 32

36:28
And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor would We have done so.

36:29

It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished.

36:30
How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.

36:31

Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to them will not return?

36:32
And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.

Ayah 29 : how foolish is mankind, mocking the Prophets.

Aya 30 starts with the word "Yahasrtaa" which is the strongest type of remorse and grief.

In aya 31, Allah tells us to look at the generations before them, this teaches us that we should have a knowledge and an understanding of history and civilization.
