Notes About Halaqas: Omar Ibn AlKhatb, Surat Al Asr, The 5 Pillars

Today was the first time I would join a halaqa in a very long time...I feel like my heart is sooo far away  I need that eman rush as they would call it. I used to attend a lecture every Sunday with Dr Islam El Fahymoui and he would teach us about the heart, it was one of the best parts of my week, and now that he stopped for over three months I feel like I missing that beneficial knowledge, and I hope Allah places me in a place in which I can regain that beneficial knowledge for my heart and soul. The loss of beneficial knowledge in the deen is one you cannot replace!

Todays halaqa I learned three things about halaqas I did not know about

Ending a Halaqa With Surat Al Asr:

Every time you complete a gathering for the sake of Allah, you usually end with Surat Al Asr .

Personally I thought it was because the Surah mentions loss of time, but when you are gathering for His Sake you are doing something beneficial with your time.

I learned that if you look at Surat Al Asr, Allah starts with talking about the individual, and ends with the mention of multiple people, subhanAllah. When Allah mentions the insan, the individual there is a mention of how the person is at loss, but then later in the Surah, Allah mentions "those who believe" and how they are encouraging each other towards what is good. Its a collective effort.

The 5 pillars of Islam
All of the pillars have to do with a collective effort

1. Al Shahada: The second part of the shahada is to believe in Prophet Muhmmad, and so we are following the Prophet collectively.

2. The Salat: It is encouraged to pray salah collectively as are a lot of benefits to praying in the congregation prayer such as praying on time, the 27 extra reward, and spiritually it is more motivating.

3. Fasting of Ramadan: we fast and sometimes we break our fast together, you know in Ramadan there are people who fast because of the motivation that everyone is fasting and you don't want to miss it. Ramadan is a time that gathers people for His Sake. And ofcourse the Eid which is meant for gathering

4. Zakat: you are sharing your wealth with others, its collective

5. Hajj: the most largest gathering for the Sake of Allah on this earth

The Story of Omar Ibn Al Khatab:

The first time Omar Ibn Al Khatb heard the recitation of the Quran before he became Muslim was at his sisters house where she and her husband and a halaqa were reciting the Quran, subhanAllah.
