Sunsets, and Signs

91:1
By the sun and its brightness

16:12 And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.

27:86
Do they not see that We made the night that they may rest therein and the day giving sight?
Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.

41:37
And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship.

Thesis: Diversity of Administrators in Higher Edu

I would love to write a senior thesis about this topic! I wonder if research was already conducted on this topic.

According to a forbes.com 2010 report:
"Six out of the top 10 most diverse schools in the country can be found in the New York metropolitan area: Rutgers- Newark;(CUNY) City College,NJIT..."

Colleges such as Rutgers, NJCU, CUNY, and many others present themselves as the most diverse colleges in the nation, but the question I pose is:

Is the diversity of the student body reflected and represented in the staff members (specifically administration) of these schools?

How did I come up with this idea?Recently I have been meeting with my future mentor-Vice President of Student Affairs at New Jersey City University to prepare my application for the NASPA - Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education Undergraduate Mentorship Program.

One of the questions on the application is:

Is there anything else significant of which you feel the  selection committee should be aware?
The answer me, the former mentor student,  and my Mentor (the VP) came up with:

"I aspire to have a career in the field of Higher Education administration with a specific focus in Student Affairs.  This desire is motivated by my belief and observations that Muslim women are an underrepresented group in this career field and that there is a need to diversify the professional ranks in higher education.  Among my goals is to serve as a role model for young Muslim women and to serve as a voice sensitive to the cultural and religious tradition of this growing demographic population in the United States."

One question my mentor had to answer is:

In your statement, please make sure to address how your potential Fellow’s identities (both privileged and historically disenfranchised identities) will affect their potential in this program.

Dr.John Melendez, Vice Presdient of Student Affairs:

"Her recognition of the apparent lack of Muslim women in the field of higher education and student affairs was very perceptive. Both Hudson County Community College and and New Jersey City University are located in Hudson County, a location that is very ethnically and culturally diverse with a visable and active Muslim community. Until Huda came to see me, I "did not see" the lack of underrepresentation of 'covered' Muslim women in our higher education community.
I believe Huda has the opportunity to represent the next wave of immigrants who will be trailblazers for their respective community. As a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and Minority Serving Institution (MSI), NJCU has a history and tradition of providing growth opportunities for its students. I believe that Huda's participation as a NUFP Fellow will go a long way to breaking down stereotypes about who chooses student affairs as a profession and will also provide this young woman an opportunity to become more fully exposed to the wide array of opportunities available in student affairs."

I thought about this statement, and I realized it is not just Muslim women who are underrepresented in this career, but lots of  other groups are also underrepresented. I think this needs to change. As our student bodys become more diverse then ever, the administration also needs to reflect this diversity.

Hoodies, Hijabs & Hate Crimes

When I first saw the hash tag on twitter #hoodiesandhijab  I feel in love with the idea.
For all of you who dont know, hoodies represents the young black boy-Trayvon who was shot dead in Flordia because he looked suspicious and he was wearing a hoodie. The hijab represents the Muslim mother of five-Shaima, who was beaten to death because  basically she is Muslim, a hate letter was found next to her. These incidents both occurred in the same time period.

Why am  I in love with  this hashtag? Because it shows you something, it shows you that there is still hate being shown towards these two groups. It shows you that we are in solidarity for one another because in the end we are alll American. Its not just a "Muslim" thing, or just a "Black" people thing, its a fight for the justice for all, just like it is stated in our famous American documents, and the famous pledge of allegiance.

The beautiful picture above is from  http://twitter.com/#!/GlobalNomad87 I believe they are a group of college students, the guys are wearing hoodies, and the women are wearing hijab! I love it, and I am trying to see if students at my campus are interested in doing a similar solidarity, I know they are looking into doing something for the boy that was killed.

Just Cry, Soften Your Heart

"There is nothing more beloved to Allah than two drops..a teardrop shed out of the fear of Allah..."

" There are two eyes which will not be touched by the fire, an eye which weeps out of the fear of Allah..."
-Prophet Muhammad
The Prophet is telling you cry for Allahs sake!

Make an effort, make it apart of your life, and soon you will
find your heart crying on its own without you even trying!

And if you think crying is only for times of sadness, this is not true,
because you will find yourself crying with a smile on your face as your remeber Allah.
Only at the remberance of Allah will you find someone crying with enjoyment!

Try to listen to those sheikhs whos voices brings tears to your eyes,
cry, cry, cry like a cry baby, because if anyone is worth your tears, it is Allah.
Dont wait until Ramadan, you never know it might be to late..

Here start your tears here , duaa by Sheikh Mishary

Hasaan Al Basri & My Love For Surat AlFajr

Two things I learned at IAMY convention.

If you dont know, I am in love with Hassan Al Basris quotes, and wisdom. During the convention one of the speakers (i think Yasir Birjas) quoted the amazing Al Basri, I lovvvveee it.

I beleive it helps you remove pride and it can keep you humble,
and it reminds you of Allahs blessings,

This is the beautiful quote (not excat but heres what I wrote)

"Allah has created some creations to mainfiest His mercy"
The speaker added, "It is thorugh me and you Allah will show his mercy to others"

This is so beautiful and what I learned or understood from it(might be wrong) is if you do have this blessing of being mercifcul and kind to others, then know it is not from YOU but only from Allah. If you are a good ambassdor of Islam, it is not because YOU but rather beacause Allah is using to set a good examples for those around you. It is a blessing with responsbility!

During the convention Dr.Atlaf Hussein talked about one of my faviorite ayas, I know I say that about alot of ayas, but this is like realllllly my faviorite, I try to listen to this surah as much as I can for the last four ayas,

89:2789:2889:2989:30

To the righteous it will be said, "O reassured soul,
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing  to Him,
And enter among My [righteous] servants
And enter My Paradise.
Arent these ayas beautiful?
Now listen to the interptation this sheikh gave (not exact but what I wrote down),
He said, In surat Al-Fajr, the nafs almutaa is the soul which is calm under the commandment of Allah. It doesnt pro-long the thinking of sin, it automatcially stops thinking of the sin. It is the highest of  three states.
In moments when you feel like you cannot move on, and you feel hopless this is the best time to turn to Allah because only He can remove this feeling of distress, and this is what is meant in the aya "Return to Allah"in Surat Al-Fajr. When everyone lets you down, and I am all alone, this is my perfect chance to turn to Allah and have a private meeting with him.
I will never forget these two things I learned!

Ummrah: No Mahram ,I Really Want To Go, Allah Knows Best

When I first read that the 2012 ICPC Umrah trip was open for sisters, I was the second person to go to the office to reserve. I was told  you cant go unless your mahram accompanies you. I was really sad and today I just found out that Yasmine Moghed would be the leader of the sisters for this trip, again I was sad at the fact that I cant go.
All I can think is "I want to break the mahram rule and just go! I want to get married so  I can have a mahram accompany me!" And then I remembered the aya I learned about today at Dr. Eslam Elfaymouis ICPC sunday lecture today,
2:216

"But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not"
-Surat Al Baqarah 216
How can we question Allahs wisdom? This was the topic of Eslams lecture today.

If Allah says dont travel without a mahram, we must obey. We may try to guess all of the scenarios of why or why not we need a mahram, but we must know that there is a wisdom we will never know, but we must with certianity obey and put our trust in Allah. For all of you who are also sad you cannot attend, dont be because inshallah Allah has a better plan for you.

Dr.Eslam gave us three points on Qada and Qadr

1. You have to beleive in the knoweldge of Allah that was always there,
everything was there all at time.

2.Allah wrote down all His knoweldge in one book called the Protected Tablet.

The aya, "There is no trial that has befallen expect that it was written in a book"

You have to accpet that something was going to happen good or bad, and that you could not stop it.

3. Allahs will is all encompassing, nothing can happen except by Allahs will.

Surat Alkhaf:
"Do not say I will do something tomorrow excpet that you say inshallah"
This came to the Prophet after the Jews had approcahed him concerning a question, and the Prophet told them I will tell you tommorow.

Eslam advised us to train oursleves to say inshallah for everything, so that you can remind yourself  that Allah is in control of everything.

To My Future Mr_____ (funny)

Mr_____, dont come to me on your own, make sure you get word to Baba before you approach me because I dont break the guardian rule.

Dont choose me for how I look because ima get old and look just like your grandmother, I am going to have kids and lose the shape you fell in love with, ill try my best to workout but hey you never know. Choose me for what the Prophet advised you guys to choose for , "Seek the one with deen(religion) - so that you may be successful". I mean you can choose me for how I look because the Prophet also mentioned that as a reason to marry, but try not to make that your priority*.

Choose me because of my smile, and you think I am funny (or maybe I am the only one who thinks that). Choose me because you can see me as your future wifey.

As for you make sure you have deen and character, because thats what the Prophet advise us women to look for. If you dont got that, dont bother walking through my door, unless you plan on improving. Its okay if you got a past, but make sure you repent, and make sure your present consists of  two things 1. deen and 2. character. I dont expect you to be some type of sheikh, but you better be praying five times a day. Whos gona be my household imam if you dont even pray? No excpetions on that! Another additional I would add is being active in the community. Volunteer, attends the masjid, conventions, lecturs etc, I mean its okay if you dont, but ima defintelly drag you along,  it would be nice if you were one of those guys. And last but not least, please be funny or you will never understand me.

As for your salary, you better be making a 6 digit salary. Lol, just kidding, all I need is a house (no we dont have to own it because ribba is haram), food, and you know those basics, whatever you can afford, im really not an expensive girl. I do want to let you know that some of my money goes to the poor, so I would definitely expect you to sponsor a orphan or two. If you dont give to the poor regulary then I dont think I want to meet you, because if you dont have a heart to support them then how will I have confidence you will support me? Just saying.

As for my career I am undecided on wether I want to work or not, I want to make sure I fulfill my repsonbilities of cooking and cleaning and eventually inshallah caring for a larger family. I beleive the women has to fulfill these responsibilities and they shouldnt be ignored. If the career is keeping the women from fulfilling her duties, then maybe she should leave. Although this matter is undecided, I know I want to contunie my education inshallah, because the first word brought down to the Prophet was "Read". How can someone discourage one from learning, when this was the first statemnet send down in Islam? I never want to stop learning.

I dont know what else to say, but I guess we can talk more later. Ill make sure to have this list prepared when you come wallking through my door.
Sincerly,
Mrs _________
your future wifey

Money Doesnt Grow Off Trees, But Rather Your Good Deeds!

Money doesnt grow off tress, but rather your good deeds!

"If you give, He will double it"

I wrote this statement last year after attending a very inspiring Moustfah Hosny,  Islamic Releif event. He really changed the way I think of donating, and he gave the crowd an inspiring true story about a very poor man who had almost nothing, but he still made sure he gave from his earnings monthly.

Why am I re-writting about this topic? Because I have a personal story I beleive will inspire you. I just want to say I am not writting this to brag, and I would rather keep this matter private, but I beleive real stories inspire you the most, just like the story I heard of during Moustfah Hosnys speech.

During the IAMY convention, I decided I would donate a $100.00. I was going to raise my hand to announce my pledge, but I decided to keep the matter to myself. I remebered I only had like $60.00 in my card (i am only a student worker lol) but then I was excited to remeber I would be picking up a check on Monday. The check was around a $100.00. I told myself I would pay slowly by giving $75 first and then paying the rest later. Guess what? The next day I went to speak to the admissions office for a job I been wanting since Sept (Student ambassdor job) and I got the job that same minute. Guess how much the job pays? $75! Later that day I realized this is all from Allah, and this is because
I pledged to make that $75 dollar donation.
Humdallah I decided to make the full $100.00 donation instead.

Next story,
I was in my job and I overheard them talking about how some store in JSQ called because they were looking to hire students for a job. I thought of who I can inform, and I decided to call up my cousin who is unemployed, and paying for school. Humdallah he went and he is in the process of interviews and phone calls, I hope inshallah if it is meant for him he will get the job. Guess what happen to me the next day? I got a call for an interview also.
Again I realized this is only because of the blessings of Allah.

GIVE HE WILL DOUBLE IT.
Take these stories into consideraton the next time you hesitate to donate, and rember the aya (I just heard it today during jumma)

63:10
And spend  in the way of Allah   from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be among the righteous."
Do you want to be of the group described in this aya?

Job: Be Kind & Stay Away From Sin

"Never give up your Muslim identity just to fit in,
and always remember to treat everyone the way the Prophet did"

The Non-Muslim work-environment:
You are the only one covered, the only one who doesn't touch the opposite gender, the only one who breaks throughout the day to go pray, the only one who is openly practing their religion.

You feel like you dont exactly fit in.You want to commit sin just to fit in, and please them, but then you remember the Prophet said,

"Whoever seeks Allahs pleasure at the cost of mans displeasure will win the pleasure of Allah and Allah will cause men to be pleased with him"

Guard yourselves, please Allah, present yourself as
a follower of the best of mankind, stay away from sin,
and I believe like this you will succeed.

Be yourself and you will win thier hearts through Allahs will, He will cause them to be pleased with you. Dont look at them differntly, because your views and morals are not the same.

Be like the Prophet who was the best mannerd, and the most kind to ALL of mankind (non-muslims, and muslims)
obey Allah, always smile and you will find them pleased with you.

Soon you will find them asking , "When are you going to pray?"
                                  "Can you pray for me?"

You will find them telling other guys for you "She cant shake your hand".
And finally you will find them pleased with you.
Afterall you are Muslim, and your one-of a kind, and you were taught from the best of mankind, he said:

"The best amongst you are those who have the best manners and character."
-Prophet Muhammad
Your manners and presentation of your self can be your ticket to Jannah.
The Prophet never treated the Non-Muslims with harshness , he won thier hearts by treating them with the best of manners.

Dawah can be done in a million ways, and one way I choose to practice  dawah at the workplace is through my manners.

Serve Others, Live and Die Nobly

"The one who lives for others surely has a hard life, but he will live nobly and die nobly."
-Sheikh AlArifi

When I started to write this post, it began like this:
One of my weakness like everyone is the strength to say no. Im sorry but there are just moments where you want to say no, even to those who you considered close. It feels like those who are closest to you are the hardest to say no to, and they will get upset the most.
After reading  a couple of hadiths , my mind went like this:
Is it really a sighn of weakness to say no? Did the Prophet ever say no? Wasnt he the most kind?
As I think about this charcterstic, I remind myself of the chapter I read in Sheikh Muhammaed Al-Arifis book, Enjoy your life, it was titled, "Do not burden yourself with what you cannot do". I loved reading the advice the sheikh gave, "How excellent is it to be straightforward with people knowing and acknolwegdeing the limits of what one can do".
Guess what the chapter before that one was titled?
" Fulfilling peoples needs".
The shiekh quoted, The Prophet said, "For me to walk with my brother to fulfill his need until it is fulfilled is more beloved to me than making itakf in this mosque of mine for a month! The one who helps his brother in need, Allah helps him when he is need"
This is why you get that guilt feeling when you say no, because ahadith like this. Because you dont want to dissppoint anyone from your ummah, and more improtantly you must remeber your ultimate goal, and that is to please Allah
The sheikh ends this chapter with a beautiful opinion:
"The one who lives for others surely has a hard life, but he will live nobly and die nobly."

Now tell me will you say no?
Live by the quote above, and you will always be successful inshallah.

The Bride Veil VS The Muslim Veil

What are the similarities between the Muslim veil and the Brides veil?

Their veil symbolizes purity (historically)
while my veil represents the charcterstic which leads to purity: modesty.

What does the bride cover before she walks down the isle? Her face!Sounds like a niqabi!

Now lets look at the colors, what color is the veil and the wedding dress? White!
What color do Muslims wrap their dead in? White!
What color do you wear when you go to Hajj? White
What color did the Prophet encourage us to wear?! White!

"Choose white clothing, as it is the best clothing. White clothing should
be worn whilst living, and the dead should be buried in white"-Prophet

How can these women make fun of my veil, when they choose to wear this same veil on their wedding day?! I know it is not the same exact style, but the concept is similar.

The next time someone asks you the golden hijabi question of
"Why do you wear that thing on your head"? Ask them "Why do brides wear it on their wedding day?"

I thought about all of the Arab girls who take it off only to replace it with a bride veil for their wedding day. How can you give up your personal veil, that Allah made exclusive for you, for the bride version? What a shame it is for you to replace your everyday veil, with something that no longer covers your hair, or your neck (its okay if theres no guys of course!).

Muslim women, stop feeling obligated to take off your veil.
You wear it all your life, all your doing is replacing the color!

They Inspire Me, Fatima Kasem, Rehab Alburi, Prophet Muhammad

Whats your Legacy? How are you going to leave it behind?
These Legacy's Have Inspired Me, Fatima Kasem, Rehab Alburi,Prophet Muhamad

Alfaitha for those who have passed before us

"A Muslim doesn't look to befriend everyone but is friendly to everyone"

When I think of this quote three people come to my mind, although I have never meet these people I know they surely lived up to the second part of " be friendly to everyone". They left behind legacy's and whenever I think of my death, I think to myself I want to be remembered the way these people were remembered, I want my janzah to be as full as these  janzah prayers. These three are Prophet Muhammed, Rehab Alburi and Fatima Kasem. Were they not kind to everyone? They truly won the hearts of people all over, and they left behind a legacy. Sometimes you get to the point where you just want to be away from everyone, and you just want to live life on your own, but this is not a realistic lifestyle for the true Muslim. One of the greatest test is how we deal with one another.

Along with these two women I also remember the Prophet Muhammad and his kindness to people, weather Muslim or not, he was able to win the hearts of the people, and his kindness attracted lots of people to Islam. One of my favorite charcterstics of the Prophet is his smile.

" I have not seen any man smiling more then the Prophet"-Abudallah Harith

I came across this hadith moments after some girl put me down by asking me why was I always smiling (I was going to vow to not smile again!) but humdallah when I read this I wanted to smile more then ever! Without a doubt I can say these two women were probably always smiling. Sometimes all it takes to win a persons heart is a simple smile! Think about it, can you avoid smiling back at someone who has just smiled at you? I think that its amazing how Islam has made this small act as a form of charity. Its a contagious form of charity to!
I just realized that I started writing this blog (well the old one which i delted -_-) after i read rehab alburi's blog. She was definitely an inspiration to me (notice i never even meet this women!). She made me think, wow I would love to leave behind something like this for people to look back at if I ever died. And my other inspiration was a lecture series where the journalist Juju Chang stated, "Everyone has a story, a legacy, your job is to tell that legacy". Whats the best way to leave behind a legacy? Write it.

Now that I think of it even the Prophet left behind his legacy by writing it (or saying it), the ahadith is the reason why we are able to read, live, and learn about his legacy! Even the sahbis, and all the great scholars, they left behind legacys through records, words, writting, and books.
Subhanallah the power of writing.
"So keep doing what you doing dont stop, just inspire me"
-Moez Melon

Sometimes you need inspiration to keep doing what you doin, I believe words of encouragement helps. This is why our Prophet left behind his legacy, as inspiration for the Muslmeen.

Strangers to Sisters :The Hijab Speaks No Lies

This is only one the many beautiful stories of my encounters with strangers in my life.

I see a hijabi women and her daughter walkby, and my first thought
is how can I pull over to offer this total stranger a ride?

I stop and beep as if I have known this women
all my life and without hesitation I offer her a ride.

During the ride, we speak as if I  known her all my life.

Strangers to Sisters, its a conenction thats one of a kind.
Its the connection of the hijabis which resmebles wifi.

Daily encounters with strangers like I known them all my life,
because I know the hijab makes no lies.

You see the hijab speaks and it tells me alot about your life and beliefs.

It tells me that you are a Muslim and then you automatically go from Stranger to Sister.

You are automatically given the treatment of
My Sister in Islam

Strangers becomes Sisters in Islam, all because of the Hijab.

This is something only us hijabi women have, no other
group got it like us we are truly one of a kind.

This is called sisterhood in Islam, this is my ummah and its truly one of a kind.

I love my hijab as it gives me chances to do good deeds, give salam on the streets,
and drive on Kennedy and give each other car rides.

I love My ummah its truly one of a kind <3

Breakin the Guardian Rule? Your Such A Fool

The Guardian Rule

(Applies to both guys/girls)

Breaking Gods rules thinking you gona get that
fool to respect and truly love you?

You broke the rule you fool? You think you was doing good
when you went out on your own?
Think again, break the guardian rule, as a consequence
you no longer got anyone protectin you.

Now you are all alone, on your own with that
fool who might hurt and possibly abuse you.

You fool why did you break Allahs guardian rule?
You think that your fake love is gona save you?
Haha he just gona heart-break and abuse you, and eventually leave you.

Will you then look for your guardians protection?

You didnt get the protection from day one.
Tell me now whos gona help you?
Your abusive habibi, that fool?

You can still turn to Allah, He will always be there, but first
you gota repent because  you broke the guardian rule.

I doubt you have the guts to go back to your guardian and say,

"Baba i kind of disobeyed you and I dated some fool,
now hes abusing me and I dont know what to do!"

See if you just followed the rule the day you meet that fool, you would lower the chances of  getting mentally or physically hurt and abused.

Sighning that contract that starts off with Bismallah Al Rahmaan Araheem, and then you got not one, two, but three witnesses by your side,
and the guardian, and most improtnatly Allah.
How did you forget to include these blessings all from day one?
Abused, broken-hearted, lost and confused, all alone, and just another fool.

All this because you choose to break the gurdian rule.

What inspired me to write this harsh piece?

"If you take anything from this lecture, take this, Islam puts these rules of having a gurdian only to protect you. It is all for the protecting of the women" -Islam Elfahoymoui
(Im sorry if I misquoted him but he said something quite similar, cannot remember the exact pharse)
The next day in my womens study class a women came in to speak about abuse. She started narrating her own story. She told us she had been with her boyfriend early in highschool, and by her senior year they were living toghether. She slowly saw that he was begining to abuse her mentally and physically. Her father was also abusive to her mother (they never got married and also just "lived toghther").

All I can think of is the "Guardian Rule". All I can think of is the point Dr.Islam wanted us to realize, that the guardian rule is simply there to protect women like me and you. All I can think is ahumdallah alya naamaat al Islam, alhumdallah, and how I never want to break that rule.

Ask Allah to give us stregth to not break this rule!

Remeber if you do you are only a fool.

FaceBook? Or Allahs Book? The Choice is Yours

FaceBook? Or Allahs Book? The Choice is Yours

You open this book multiple times and hours a day, you even stay up late in the night, can you guess which book this is? Quran or FaceBook? Now, I ask you another question..can you close FaceBook for a couple of minutes, and open Allahs book? I invite you to a special event, I invite you to spend a moment with Allah, I invite you to read Kitab Allah, The Holy Quran. Now would you accept? Maybe? Or automatically decline?

The Quran:It is the book people have choose to ignore, the book people have forgetten, ever wonder why? Because theyre to busy on FaceBook. I hate FaceBook because it takes my ummah away from a beautiful book, the book of Allah, the Holy Quran <3. Sharing notifications on this book of each others sins, but they have forgetten about the notifications set up for them by Allah , "Indeed, in this [Qur'an] is notification for a worshipping people". They enjoy sharing on their book, but they forget of the book Allah has shared to them exclusively.

Now I ask you one final thing, if you are convinced, can you click that X on the top of your screen and call it a night for FaceBook, and click on the link below for a new chapter? I dare you to click, i dare you to shut down your FaceBook, and read Allahs book<3 ..
http://quran.com/21

(while you reading it you can listen to it, beautiful http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAoz4mcrqwg)

I choose surat Al-Anbiya I think the starting aya is a heart catcher, and it scares me but in a good way i love it.

The time of their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.

And the reality of this life lies in this aya...

Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.

What You Fellas Lookin At? Deen before Beauty

What You Fellas Lookin At? Deen before Beauty

You show off your goodies to that good lookin man, thinkin you gona get loved? Or possibly hitched? You show a strand of hair, a fake face, and some skin along the way, thinking this is the right way to get him? The face filled with cover up, its just make-up or shall I say made-up? Do you want him to judge you based on these fake not so perfect flawless things? Or do you want him to choose you based on something that goes beyond this world?

The Prophet gave man a choice of four..What do you want him to choose you for??
He said: “A woman is sought in marriage for four reasons; wealth, social status, beauty and deen (piety). So seek the one with deen – may you then be successful.”

You heard that fellas? This advice goes out to the sisters as well. Its okay if the man chooses her for her beautiful bangs, and the made-up face, but can he look beyond the pretty days? Can he look beyond the bad hair days? Can he look at her when her money and staus is at lost?
Ever wonder why my Prophet said religion before world? Why did he prefer this one over all four? Because religion is an everlasting beauty that can go beyond this world..its not just a moment in this life...this love goes beyond cloud 4,5, 9, whatever you guys be singing about... this love goes beyond the clouds, it goes to the seven Heavens, Paradise, and inshallah much more..
Wana know the true defeniton of ultimate success? The success the prophet tells us to look for?
Allah describes true success in the Quran, He says, "Gardens under which rivers flow to dwell therein forever, and beautiful mansions in Gardens of 'Adn (Eden Paradise). But the greatest bliss is the Good Pleasure of Allah. That is the supreme succes".
You can look at each others beauty, wealth, education and stauts, and wordly success, but you should ultimately look at the ultimate success. Its called Jannah, in case you aint know, that is the definition of being successful. Theres one thing you need to enter this eternal world; its called religion and belief in the One and Only Lord.
Now tell me what more can you look for?
So he can look for four, but what should she look for? His looks, status, or wealth?? Religion alone? No..no, we got much more to look for! The prophet said dont just look for religion but look for an additional plus..He said: “lf a man comes to you seeking marriage and you are satisfied with his deen and character, marry him"
You may wonder, hey how come looks are not involved? No looks involved..just good character and deen? Now you may ask does this mean we dont take looks into consideration at all? Na, Islam is fair, and there are many times where the prophet says looks also play an improtant role. But why is not a priority? Because the looks of youth are not everlasting, this is a fact you cannot deny. You will not stay young and beautiful forever, and that is why looks aint everything in Islam.
Prophet said: "whoever Allaah blesses with a righteous wife, then He has assisted him in half of his deen. So therefore, let him fear Allaah in the other half."

So Cute!! Babies and Childern Wordly Life Adornments

So Cute!! Babies and Childern Wordly Life Adornments

When you see a baby smiling at you, you cannot help but give a big smile back. They make you laugh, smile and forget about the worldly worries. At the same time they are distractions for us from the next life. One common complaint many mothers complain of is a lack of time to do more islamic acts of worship. How many mothers have complianed of this? How can childern take them away from the deen you may ask? Allah descirbes this multiple times in the Quran, Surat Al-Khaf 46

Wealth and children are but adornment of the worldly life. But the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for one's hope.

Recenlty after on a visit to my aunts freinds house to see her 6 month old baby son, and 3 year old daughter, I thought deeply about this aya. You can use these two things to your advantage or disavdantage. For an example wealth: you can get carried away with it, and think only about gaining wealth, forget about gaining deeds, or you can use it to your advantage: sadaqa jaraya, zakat, donatiting it, sposnor orphans, etc. The same is with childern, you can get carried away with their cutness and forget about reading Quran or getting up to pray, or you can use them to your advantage: " Paradise lies under the feets of the mothers".

It is all about the way you do everything, and your intnetions. So next time you see a cute baby smiling at you , smile back because its charity, and be kind to them because Allah loves kindness.

Crying, Attachments, Why Allah Is Only Worth It Alll..

Crying, Attachments, Why Allah Is Only Worth It Alll..

"No ones worth your tears". This statement is nice and all but it doesn't make sense because only those you care about make you cry, because how much you cared about them and how hurt you feel. Whats the point of crying to no one when , the Prophet said : "There is nothing more beloved to Allah than two drops; A teardrop shed out of fear of Allah" <3 Reading this made me feel so much better, subhanallah. Some may not be worth your tears, but surely Allah is worth your tears.

Another thing i heard before but did not take advantage of was, "Dont get attached to people, get attached to Allah".. I want to learn how to be at this state of attachment. I want to be able to forget about what the people have made me feel like, or may have said, and to remember that Allah is always there and Ever-Lasting. How often does He wait for us to call on Him but we never do =/. Imagine if we feel sad when our friends stop talking to us, imagine how sad or upset Allah is when we dont make efforts to call on Him everyday. He is the only worth feeling sad about, I should only feel sad when I feel I have displeased Allah.

I want Him to be my only concern, I want to only be sad when I feel I have lost a moment of communicating with Him. Who is more Merciful and Kind than the Most Kind, and the Most Merciful? Who cares about your tears the most? How can I forget about my favorite verse when the Most Kinds tells us,

"And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near to them. I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me. So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright."

It is my faviorite aya but at the same time it makes me sad because how often do I forget to call upon Him... how often do i get to caught up with creation that I forget Allah is waiting for me to call on Him.. how often do I forget that all that is in this life is passing, and that one day I will meet Him..I will meet Allah SWT <3 Inshallah

I love Hasaan Al Basri... this quote couldnt have come up in a more better time!
He mentions that the first thing that the Muslim should be concerned with is the reform of herself or himself. Then he says, “A Muslim should strive to attain a strong body, good character, cultured thought. He should be able to earn a living, have pure belief, and correct worship. He should be able to control his desires, be careful about his time, organized in his affairs, and beneficial to those around him. These comprise the duties of every Muslim as an individual."
