Remeber that song,
"Ring around the roise.....we all fall down!
Why did Allah create this concept of forgiveness and repentance? Because He knows we all fall down!
We think we know it all and we will never fall but surely we will all fall....that sheikh standing on that mumbar yup he fell, that sister giving you that halaqa, yup she fell, you think only the bad ones fall? But really we all fall !
The wise one is not the one falls the least, but rather it is the one who falls and always gets right back up, returning to His Lord. Quote I read (dont remeber who said it, but maybe the Prophet?)

"
Everyone of you is constantly doing wrong but the best of those
who
are doing wrong are the ones who are constaly making repentance"
Allah loves when you come to Him, and sometimes it does take a fall here and a sin there and a calamity over there for you to come back to Allah, if this fall, sin,or calamity is bringing you back to Allah then it is something good for you, because
"All
of the affairs of the believer are of good" -Prophet
So yes sins and calamities are good for you, because they are only a test from Allah to see if you are going to come back to Him or stay on that path of disobedience, how else will Allah test us? He must test us through sin and trials, but this doesnt mean you go and purposely fall!! You try your best to avoid the fall, but if you do fall remeber Allah says:
Holy Quran 39:53-54
Say, "O My servants who have
transgressed against themselves [by sinning],
do not despair of the mercy of Allah .
Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.
Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving,
the Merciful."
And return [in repentance] to your Lord
and submit to
Him before the punishment comes upon
you; then you will not be helped.
Duaa for forgivness -
The Prophet (PBUH) said, "The best supplication for seeking forgiveness (Syed-ul- Istighfar) is to say: 'Allahumma Anta Rabbi, la ilaha illa Anta, khalaqtani wa ana 'abduka, wa ana 'ala 'ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, a'udhu bika min sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u laka bini'matika 'alayya, wa abu'u bidhanbi faghfir li, fa innahu la yaghfirudh-dhunuba illa Anta.
(O Allah! You are my Rubb. There is no true god except You. You have created me, and I am Your slave, and I hold to Your Covenant as far as I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge the favours that You have bestowed upon me, and I confess my sins. Pardon me, for none but You has the power to pardon).'
